Q.
What does a Hot Spot Flasher do?
A.
A Hot Spot Flasher does three things: First, it creates vibration that attracts fish to
your gear. Second, it provides a visual target or stimulus to predator fish. Third, it
imparts an action to a lure or bait that doesn't have an action of it's own.
Q.
Do I have to have my lure or bait attached to the flasher?
A.
No, you can run a false-flasher setup; that is run the flasher
20-25' off your downrigger cable or ball. Then run your lure,
that has an action of it's own, 8-10' up from that and run it
about 5' back from where the flasher is. In so doing you will
have the vibration and visual stimuli that will attract fish
to your lure.
Q.
Can I use any lure with a Hot Spot Flasher?
A.
Any lure except 5" and larger shovel nose plugs.
Plugs create so much drag they would inhibit the
Hot Spot action. For lures that have an action of
their own, such as an Apex, allow enough leader
length that the lure's action is not inhibited by
the flasher.

Q.
Why is a Hot Spot Flasher superior to the copies and different
types of flashers?
A.
The copies and the other types are one-dimensional in that they
spin but don't rotate and periodicaly change direction of rotation
like a Hot Spot.
Q.
What is the difference between a Hot Spot Flasher and a dodger?
A.
Dodgers sway from side to side or waggle, but don't rotate. Hot Spot
flashers are designed to rotate and will impart much more action to
lures, especially bait and hoochies.
Q.
What is the best speed to troll at with a Hot Spot Flasher?
A.
Depending on tides or currents, a Hot Spot flasher can be
trolled at 1.5-3.5 m.p.h. For optimal results try to achieve
60 r.p.m. You are generally going to get more strikes at higher
speeds.

Q.
What colour is best and why are there so many colours?
A.
Colour selection is often an intangible but there are a few
guidelines. Glows are designed to be visible in low light
conditions or when fishing at great depths. If we think of the
water column as a light filter the red end of the spectrum will
reflect light as red only to about 30' in saltwater, and then as
depth increases, red becomes black. On the opposite end of the
spectrum blue and purple will reflect light as those colours at
depths beyond a 100'.

Q.
Why is an Apex Lure so effective?
A.
The erratic action of an Apex creates a lot of vibration
which attracts fish from a distance. The erratic action
mimics an injured baitfish; natural prey.
Q.
How many sizes of Apex are there?
A.
There are seven sizes to match bait your quarry
is feeding on where you are fishing, from 1" to 6.25".
Q.
Why are there so many colours of Apex?
A.
Apex are produced in 54 finishes so the angler
can match the local bait colours. A good tip here
is to match the colour of your Apex to the colour
of the water being fished. Herring, Shad, Anchovies,
etc., can adjust their colour to blend in with the
surrounding water colour to be less visible to predators.
Green water use green, blue water use blue Apex.
